Understanding actions seems to require external reasons and purposes. But are actions merely because they need to be carried out, or are they the natural expression of existence?
I am extremely amazed by the self-growth of potatoes. In their form which lacks aesthetic appeal, they can sprout and grow at all times, stripping away any external reasons and not requiring any pre-established value.
The growth of potatoes does not stem from the craving for external value, nor does it come from expectations for the future, nor is it driven by history. It is merely an expression and manifestation of the present existence and life, and it is precisely for this reason that they act, grow, and connect with and interact with the world.
I placed the potatoes on the bathtub and set them in the bathroom setting. Because I have always believed that the bathroom represents a mainstream and stable value orientation for life - a lifestyle that is far from the filth and decay of survival, the sorrowful and dangerous aspects, being safe and comfortable, and away from danger. And in this static value representation, the potatoes still grow, still move, and still head towards death.
All sorrow will be buried eventually
