This vedio is inspired by Milan Kundera’s concpet 'kitsch'.
I reflected on an important source of value formation in my own upbringing—popular culture. Popular culture is pre- cisely such a producer of kitsch values: it flattens complexity and imposes absolute, singular values, denying the richness of reality.
However, as his novel shows, “human beings cannot rid themselves of kitsch.” Even while recognizing the narrowness and limitations of the singular values, we cannot bear the emptiness of existence without lofty value. Inevitably, another construction of kitsch values for life takes shape.
Thus, whether in LinaBell’s stubborn insistence on her “cute” image, or Hello Kitty’s continual rebellion against her assigned role, both figures embody the impossibility of enduring life’s meaninglessness. Values keep shifting, pulling against each other, and layering over existence itself.
